Knauf Insulation’s Supafil Party Wall Insulation is now manufactured with a blue coloration in order to promote compliance with Robust Details and to provide housebuilders with easy on-site identification.
At the beginning of March 2015 the inspection list and handbook for Robust Detail E-WM-28 was updated to include the new technical design of Supafil Party Wall Insulation.
Andrew Hale, Product Manager – Glass Mineral Wool, New Build, at Knauf Insulation, commented: “The new coloration of Knauf Insulation’s Supafil Party Wall Insulation will provide housebuilders the confidence that their contractors are installing the correct product for this application.
“Housebuilders will also be provided with a peace of mind that by installing Supafil Party Wall they will be able to adhere to both Part E and L of the Building Regulations and the NHBC building standards. Additionally, construction time will be reduced as there is no need to undertake pre-completion acoustic testing as the product is a registered construction with Robust Details. What’s more, when this product is used in conjunction with effective edge sealing – fully filling the cavity – the solution allows a zero effective U-value to be used within SAP calculations for new dwellings.”
On a new build property, Supafil Party Wall Insulation is injected into the wall once it has been constructed, allowing the empty cavities to be available for NHBC inspection and to check that there are no obstructions within the cavity, which can impair both acoustic and thermal performance.
