With its products being used worldwide, Knauf Insulation has released Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for its range of glass mineral wool, rock mineral wool and XPS products. This globally recognised standard enables construction companies and specifiers to gain independent verification of a product’s environmental credentials.
EPDs are third party certified ‘environmental data sheets’ – the green analogue of technical specifications – which provide quantified information about a product’s environmental and health impacts across various life cycle stages.
Knauf Insulation’s voluntary EPDs provide specifiers with completely transparent environmental data, using standardised systems that are recognised globally.
To allow specifiers to understand and evaluate the environmental performance of products both on a consistent basis, but also in the context of their application in a building, Knauf Insulation’s EPDs are EN15804 compliant.
The data presented in a construction product EPD can therefore be combined in software tools like IMPACT  and TALLY  to quantify the environmental impacts of whole buildings at the design stage.

 IMPACT allows construction professionals to measure the embodied environmental impact and life cycle cost performance of buildings. IMPACT is integrated into 3D CAD/BIM (Building Information Modelling) software tools. The results generated by IMPACT can be used in whole building assessment schemes like BREEAM
 TALLY® is an Autodesk® Revit® application that allows designers to quantify the environmental impact of building materials for whole building analysis as well as comparative analyses of design options. While working on a Revit model, the user can define relationships between BIM elements and construction materials from the Tally database.
