Knauf Insulation is pleased to announce that it has been named as a finalist in the Chartered Institute Waste Management (CIWM) Awards for Environmental Excellence.
Knauf Insulation has been shortlisted in the Zero Waste Award category, with its entry about achieving zero waste to landfill at all four of its UK manufacturing plants in August 2013.
The achievement marks a significant milestone in Knauf Insulation’s sustainability journey, in which it is constantly developing its products and processes to contribute towards greener and more energy efficient environments.
Knauf Insulation has introduced a number of measures to divert its production and office generated waste. For example, at its glass mineral wool sites in St Helens and Cwmbran, Knauf Insulation’s glass wool and incidental packaging waste is collected by a recycling partner and re-processed for use as underground bedding.
The winners will be announced at the seventh CIWM Awards for Environmental Excellence, taking place at the Grosvenor Square Marriott Hotel, in London, on 7 November.
