Knauf Insulation has launched a new ‘Introduction to Solid Wall Insulation’ CPD module explaining the core issues surrounding the insulation of solid walls. Aimed at building designers and specifiers, it addresses the matters affecting the installation of both external wall insulation (EWI), and internal wall insulation (IWI).
The suitability of insulation materials and systems and how the choice of insulation impacts on the exterior wall design are also examined, along with solution options for both new build and retrofit applications to existing buildings.
For building designers, the module explains the principles of solid wall insulation systems and the regulations that apply to them, raising awareness of the different types of insulation and their performance characteristics. It also looks at the importance of the fire performance of insulation products and the materials used in these applications and systems.
Dave Khan, Technical Product Manager, from Knauf Insulation, said: “A huge programme of refurbishment work is required to tackle Britain’s aging housing stock and reduce carbon emissions. Just looking at the domestic market alone, there’s 6.4 million* houses with solid walls, meaning both EWI and IWI systems will grow in their importance.
“The “Introduction to Solid Wall Insulation” CPD module adds further depth to Knauf Insulation’s expertise in this area. As the manufacturer offering the industry’s widest range of insulation materials, Knauf Insulation can provide advice on the most suitable and cost effective solution for the project. The CPD adds to this by providing a balanced comparison of the solutions available.”
The “Introduction to Solid Wall Insulation” CPD module can be completed by attending a dedicated seminar or the module can be accessed online via Knauf Insulation’s CPD Academy. On completion of the online module, a CPD completion certificate can be generated via the CPD Certification Service.
