Knauf Insulation has been named as a finalist in the inaugural Build It Awards 2012.
The UK’s leading insulation manufacturer has been shortlisted in the Best Innovation in Insulation category after impressing the judges with its Manchester Low Energy Terraced House project, which demonstrated how low value properties can be made energy efficient through affordable refurbishment.
Knauf Insulation insulated the property with a range of its innovative products including its ThermoShell® Internal Wall Insulation System (IWI), Earthwool Loft Roll and Polyfoam Floorboard. Following installation the property benefited from a 62 per cent energy reduction, a carbon reduction of 57 per cent and it was also expected to increase from a band ‘F’ to a band ‘C’ Energy Performance Certificate rating.
The awards, which celebrate self build and renovation excellence, are judged by a panel of industry experts including the editor of Build It magazine, Anna-Marie DeSouza. The winners will be unveiled at a luncheon ceremony held at The National Self Build & Renovation Centre on Thursday, 25th October 2012.
Lydia Sharples, head of communications, Northern Europe for Knauf Insulation, said: “We’re delighted to have made it to the final shortlist and be recognised for our innovative range of insulation solutions. It’s testament to our commitment and investment in developing and improving our range of products and systems to improve the energy efficiency of our homes and buildings.”
