Knauf Insulation showcased its extensive portfolio of envelope solutions at the recent RCI Show in Coventry, including its innovative new Earthwool® RoofSlab Hybrid and its new lightweight green roof system, Urbanscape®. The UK’s leading insulation manufacturer also presented two seminars and a CPD during the two-day show.
Knauf Insulation’s impressive stand featured Earthwool RoofSlab Hybrid – a combination of rock mineral wool and PIR, which is suitable for use with mechanically fixed and adhered single-ply membranes, cold applied liquid membranes, built-up felt and mastic asphalt waterproofing systems. The product takes the great acoustic and thermal performance of rock and adds additional thermal performance, flexibility and familiarity of an industry leading tissue faced PIR, in a factory bonded slab.
James Hulbert, Product Manager - Rock Mineral Wool, presented a light hearted seminar discussing the benefits of combining the two well-known and trusted insulants in one product, as well as highlighting Knauf Insulation’s extensive acoustic testing. To reinforce the hybrid message, visitors that requested information about the product on the stand were automatically entered into a prize draw, to win a driving experience in a BMW i8 hybrid supercar. There were also hybrid chocolate bars for those visitors with a sweeter tooth.
Urbanscape was also showcased on the stand, which is a lightweight green roof system that transforms roofs into a natural green oasis, helping to save energy and reducing the impact of storm water. Craig O’Donnell, Systems Development Manager, held a presentation highlighting the system’s wide-range of benefits while addressing any questions that the audience had. The main topics discussed were the superior water management properties and its efficient installation methods.
Stephen Wise, Product Manager at Knauf Insulation, further supported the ‘joined up thinking’ message as he presented an hour long CPD on Rainscreen Cladding entitled ‘Think of a Number’. The CPD explored key topics around the application including fire performance above and below 18m in storey height, thermal calculations and accuracy of fit.
Also featured on the stand was Knauf Insulation’s Polyfoam® ECO Roofboard Extra and Slimline Zero Membrane inverted roof system; offering the lowest design lambda of any BBA Certified inverted roof insulant, with single thickness solutions to 0.15 W/m2K in a 300 kPa XPS board. The system delivers peace of mind for the designer and contractor alike, with calculations issued under the BBA/TIMSA U-value Competency Scheme.
The arch that stood over the whole stand illustrated the flexibility of Knauf Insulation’s Earthwool FactoryClad range, which was demonstrated by a combination of both Euroclad® Elite standing seam and CA Group’s Twin-Therm® systems.
Knauf Insulation also had a demonstration area at the show, which it used to gain industry feedback on its forthcoming innovative Kventi® insulation system; a panel of Polyfoam XPS and an integrated metal profile provides insulation, waterproofing and support to the roof tiles in one product.
James Hulbert at Knauf Insulation, said: “We have had an excellent two days at this year’s RCI Show. To meet and speak with both visitors and other exhibitors provided us with the opportunity to promote the products and systems we have all the better.
“RCI’s core audience dovetails extremely well with our offering, enabling us to showcase the breadth of our solutions, including the innovative and new Earthwool RoofSlab Hybrid and Urbanscape, along with the established and trusted Earthwool RainScreen Slab, Polyfoam ECO Roofboard Extra and Earthwool FactoryClad.”
The RCI show 2016 took place at the Ricoh Arena on the 27th and 28th of January and gave those from the trade including, roofing contractors, builders, developers, merchants and architects, the chance to view a range of industry products.
