On Saturday 9th November, Knauf Insulation paraded the streets of London in The Lord Mayor’s Show, celebrating ‘merchanting through the ages’ as part of the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants float.
Knauf Insulation sponsored the insulation section of the float and as the procession featured models dressed as a variety of building products, Knauf Insulation created two loft roll insulation characters to promote its product benefits to spectators.
John Sinfield, Managing Director Northern Europe at Knauf Insulation said: “Knauf Insulation is a major supplier to thousands of merchants across the UK and we recognise the importance of upholding strong relationships with our customers. Therefore, we were excited to be a part of this year’s Lord Mayor’s, joining fellow members of the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants, to recognise Britain’s builders’ merchants and the contribution they make.”
This was the 798th time the show has made its way through London, to mark the Lord Mayor’s journey to the Royal Courts of Justice to swear on oath of allegiance to the sovereign. The procession had over 7,000 participants, with 21 bands, 150 horses, 23 carriages, carts and coaches, as well as hundreds of other vehicles. The new Lord Mayor, Fiona Woolf, is an Honorary Member of the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants and is only the second woman to hold this post - following in the footsteps of Mary Donaldson who was appointed Lord Mayor in 1983.
John Poore, Master of the Worshipful Company of Builder’s Merchants, commented: “This year’s Lord Mayor Show was a fantastic event and despite the inclement weather, the atmosphere our float generated was truly brilliant. Everyone involved in the event made a real effort and I’m sure all the spectators would agree that with the combination of our vintage vehicles and building material costumes, our float will be one to remember!”
Knauf Insulation’s range of loft roll insulation provides many benefits to users due to its exceptional thermal, acoustic and fire performance characteristics. Furthermore, Knauf Insulation’s Earthwool® mineral wool products are manufactured with the revolutionary ECOSE® Technology which uses a formaldehyde-free binder based on rapidly renewable materials instead of petro-based chemicals and is up to 70 per cent less energy intensive. ECOSE Technology also produces a ‘super-soft’, easier to handle and cut mineral wool with a natural brown colour.
