Three apprentices from Knauf Insulation’s manufacturing plant in Queensferry are jetting off to Croatia as part of National Apprentice Week.
Nathan Price (18) from Connah’s Quay, Sion Evans (20) from Mold and Adam Humphreys (20) from Flint, who are all engineering apprentices, will spend two weeks at the Knauf Insulation Factory just outside the capital city, Zagreb.
The factory is undergoing an upgrade to the production facility and the apprentices, whose training is provided by Deeside College, will be involved in the final stages of commissioning and start up.
The exciting opportunity comes as part of the Leonardo da Vinci All Wales Apprentice Mobility Partnership project, run by CollegesWales. The project aims to send apprentices from across Wales on placements to partner colleges in Europe to gain valuable experience.
Knauf Insulation Maintenance Manager, Shaun Lawrenson said: “This is an excellent initiative and we are working closely with Deeside College who have accessed funding to support this programme. The programme is integrated in the apprenticeship scheme and offers an excellent opportunity for the apprentices to develop the behaviours required for their professional life.”
