Home energy efficiency 'a top priority for lettings'
Individuals hoping to take on a new rental property across the UK are likely to base their decision upon a home's green credentials.
New research from PropertyLetByUs.com has shown that benefiting from improved home energy efficiency will be a top priority for the majority of those entering or moving in the UK rental sector this year, with one of the main concerns being an inability to keep homes warm without breaking the bank.
As a result, measures including energy-efficient double glazing plus installing the recommended levels of loft and cavity wall insulation are among the main aspects of making the home cheaper to maintain that prospective renters will want to check.
A spokesperson for the online letting agency stated: "It is clear that properly insulated and double-glazed properties are highly sought after by tenants as they enter 2016.
"This means that landlords offering accommodation which is not up to standard should begin improving their properties as soon as possible."
Overall, the research showed that up to one million people currently residing in rented accommodation across the UK could be spending more than £1,000 more than they need to each year on their home energy bills as a result of poor insulation.
Heading into the winter, it is therefore imperative that households up and down the country examine the green credentials of their home to ensure they are saving where possible through the best levels of energy efficiency that their property can provide.
