Technical Support Team (TST)

Knauf Insulation offer unparalleled expert advice on all our products and solutions through our in-house Technical Support Team  (TST).

With over 75 years combined insulation experience, our TST provide free, expert advice to construction professionals through phone and email.

You can contact the TST on 01744 76 66 66 or email technical.uk@knaufinsulation.com.

Our TST help desk is staffed from 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday by experienced insulation experts, ready to provide advice on regulations, products and energy performance.

As well as technical advice, our TST team can provide U-value calculations, NBS clauses, 3D Heat Loss Calculations and CAD files for your project. Just call  01744 766666. Alternatively, you can email technical.uk@knaufinsulation.com. We will normally respond to emails within 24 hours.

U-value calculations and the BBA / TIMSA Competency Scheme

Knauf Insulation is a fully accredited member of the prestigious and industry leading British Board of Agrément (BBA) U-value and Condensation Calculation Competency Scheme. The scheme, which was launched on 1st April 2010, has been created by the British Board of Agrément in conjunction with the Thermal Insulation Manufacturers and Suppliers Association (TIMSA) to promote and assist accurate, objective and consistent calculation of U-values and condensation calculations within the UK construction industry.

As a result, Knauf Insulation customers can be assured that the U-value and condensation calculations supplied to them are in line with all relevant industry standards, accurate and consistent, and there is a clear and comprehensive audit trail in place.

Numerical modelling calculation service

Our Technical Support Team have the ability to provide 3D finite element heat loss calculations to fully comply with Building Regulations Part L. By analysing the heat flows through external wall construction elements (such as rainscreen cladding systems) TST can provide robust supporting evidence for U-value calculations. Additionally, we can also provide 2D heat loss calculations associated with non-repeating thermal bridges, such as those that occur at the junctions between elements and around the perimeter of window and door openings.

WUFI Hygrothermal Modelling

Our technical experts are also able to provide advice on the hygrothermal performance of construction elements, systems and solutions to ensure that Knauf Insulation application solutions do not reduce the efficiency of the building fabric or shorten the lifetime performance of the building. Hygrothermal relates to the movement of heat and moisture through construction elements and buildings.
